{"id":7323,"date":"2019-05-09T15:26:03","date_gmt":"2019-05-09T22:26:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/?p=7323"},"modified":"2019-05-09T15:26:04","modified_gmt":"2019-05-09T22:26:04","slug":"water-sewer-projects-continue-on-hathaway-street-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/water-sewer-projects-continue-on-hathaway-street-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Water, Sewer Projects Continue on Hathaway Street"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A project to replace existing\nwater and sewer mains along a section of Hathaway Street continues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project is taking place on Hathaway\nStreet from North 6<sup>th<\/sup> Avenue to North 16<sup>th<\/sup> Avenue. &nbsp;P.O.W. Contracting, Inc. of Pasco is the primary contractor\non the project.&nbsp; To date, the contractor\nhas installed approximately 2,000 lineal feet of new 8-inch sewer main and the associated\nstructures and laterals, replaced an existing Old Union Irrigation canal\ncrossing concrete box culvert with a new 30-inch polyethylene pipe, and completed\napproximately 2,000 lineal feet of new 12-inch waterline and new services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Over the next week,\nthe contractor will continue installation of the new water line and services\nbetween North 6<sup>th<\/sup> Avenue and North 8<sup>th<\/sup> Avenue.&nbsp; Work will also take place on North 6<sup>th<\/sup>\nAvenue and North 16<sup>th<\/sup> Avenue to confirm the location of existing\nutilities in preparation for final waterline connections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Construction activity will continue\nto affect properties along Hathaway Street between North 6<sup>th<\/sup> Avenue\nand North 16<sup>th<\/sup> Avenue and may cause some minor inconvenience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the week of May 13<sup>th<\/sup>,\naccess to Hathaway Street will be limited to North 16<sup>th<\/sup> Avenue, as\nwell as North 8<sup>th<\/sup> Avenue\/East J Street.&nbsp; Access from North 6<sup>th<\/sup> Avenue will\nnot be available.&nbsp; Local access to residences\nand businesses will be maintained as best as possible during the project, although\nthe road is closed to thru traffic. Emergency vehicles, school\nbuses and refuse services will be allowed through the project area when\nnecessary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project is expected to be\nsubstantially complete by Friday, June 14<sup>th<\/sup>, two weeks later than\noriginally anticipated.&nbsp; Inclement\nweather delays early on in the project, as well other construction related\ndelays, extended the project completion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Drivers are reminded that the speed limit through all traffic-related work zones within the City of Yakima is 20 miles-per-hour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-file\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/6\/files\/sites\/6\/Hathaway-Street-Sewer-and-Water-Project-News-Release.pdf\">Hathaway-Street-Sewer-and-Water-Project-News-Release<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/6\/files\/sites\/6\/Hathaway-Street-Sewer-and-Water-Project-News-Release.pdf\" class=\"wp-block-file__button\" download>Download<\/a><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A project to replace existing water and sewer mains along a section of Hathaway Street continues.
