{"id":7329,"date":"2019-05-14T09:30:55","date_gmt":"2019-05-14T16:30:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/?p=7329"},"modified":"2019-05-14T09:30:56","modified_gmt":"2019-05-14T16:30:56","slug":"candidates-should-be-aware-of-sign-code-requirements-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/candidates-should-be-aware-of-sign-code-requirements-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Candidates Should be Aware of Sign Code Requirements"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>With Yakima County&#8217;s official candidate filing week beginning\nyesterday, Monday, May 13<sup>th<\/sup>, the City of Yakima reminds candidates\nand their supporters that signs cannot be affixed to\nCity property \u2013 including fences or utility poles &#8211; or placed within City parks\n(other than public rights-of-way adjacent to parks).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Campaign signs must also be\nremoved promptly after the election date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Other requirements in the City of\nYakima&#8217;s sign code regarding temporary signs, which include those for political\ncampaigns, include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Temporary signs can be no larger than four square feet and the\n     height cannot exceed three feet, including the stake.<\/li><li>Temporary signs may be placed on public rights-of-way between the\n     curb and property line. However, the abutting property owner&#8217;s approval is\n     required, and no signs are allowed to block the clear view triangle.<\/li><li>Dilapidated or nuisance signs in rights-of-way must be removed<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>To ensure campaign\nsigns follow the sign code rules and regulations, candidates are encouraged to\nread Yakima Municipal Code section 15.08.
