{"id":7439,"date":"2019-06-12T12:31:02","date_gmt":"2019-06-12T19:31:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/?p=7439"},"modified":"2019-06-12T12:31:04","modified_gmt":"2019-06-12T19:31:04","slug":"wings-of-freedom-bringing-vintage-aircraft-to-yakima","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/wings-of-freedom-bringing-vintage-aircraft-to-yakima\/","title":{"rendered":"Wings of Freedom Bringing Vintage Aircraft to Yakima"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Yakima community members will have a rare\nopportunity to visit, explore, and learn more about several unique and rare\ntreasures that are part of U.S. aviation history from Monday, June 24<sup>th<\/sup>\nthrough Thursday, June 27<sup>th<\/sup> when the Collings Foundation&#8217;s <em>Wings of Freedom Tour<\/em> visits the Yakima\nAir Terminal-McAllister Field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Included in the <em>Wings of Freedom Tour <\/em>are a World War II Boeing B-17 Flying\nFortress, a Consolidated B-24 Liberator, a B-25 Mitchell bomber, a Curtiss P-40\nWarhawk and a P-51 Mustang fighter.&nbsp; The\naircraft that are part of the <em>Wings of\nFreedom Tour <\/em>will be located at the McCormick Air Center (3210 West\nWashington Avenue) during their stay in Yakima.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;These are truly some of the most unique\nexamples of vintage aircraft, and they are all still in flying condition,&#8221;\nsaid Yakima Air Terminal-McAllister Field Director Rob Peterson.&nbsp; &#8220;The <em>Wings\nof Freedom Tour<\/em> offers an\nextraordinary opportunity to get an up close and personal look at these historic\naircraft.&nbsp; What&#8217;s even more exciting is\nthat people actually have the chance to fly in these wonderful examples of U.S.\naviation technology,&#8221; said Peterson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From 12:00 pm to\n5:00 pm on June 24<sup>th<\/sup>, 9:30 am to 5:00 pm on June 25<sup>th<\/sup> and\nJune 26<sup>th<\/sup>, and 9:30 am to 12:00 pm on June 27<sup>th<\/sup>, all are\ninvited to come to the Yakima Air Terminal-McAllister Field and tour the\nvintage aircraft.&nbsp; Tours cost $15.00 for\nadults and $5.00 for children ages 12 and younger.
