{"id":7536,"date":"2019-07-08T09:04:36","date_gmt":"2019-07-08T16:04:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/?p=7536"},"modified":"2019-07-08T14:09:52","modified_gmt":"2019-07-08T21:09:52","slug":"yakima-parks-hosting-free-concerts-movies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/yakima-parks-hosting-free-concerts-movies\/","title":{"rendered":"Yakima Parks Hosting Free Concerts, Movies"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>City of Yakima parks will be\nalive with the sound of music &#8211; and movies &#8211; during three different series that\nbegin this week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;The idea is to encourage\nfamilies to bring blankets or lawn chairs and enjoy the free concerts and films\noutdoors,&#8221; said Parks &amp; Recreation Manager Ken Wilkinson. &#8220;The\ncommunity is invited to relax and listen to\ngreat music or watch family films in a beautiful park.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Summer Sunset Concert Series\nat Franklin Park, 2101 Tieton Drive, will kick things off on Friday, July 12<sup>th<\/sup>\nwith Bart Roderick &amp; Friends. Other performances &#8211; all from 6:00 pm to 8:00\npm on Fridays &#8211; include Camille Bloom on July 19<sup>th<\/sup>, Snaccs on July 26<sup>th<\/sup>,\nIan McFeron Band on August 2<sup>nd<\/sup>, Cosmos&#8217;s Dream on August 9<sup>th<\/sup>\nand the Joe Brooks Quartet on August 16<sup>th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Viva La Musica Concert Series\nalso returns and this again will be held at two City parks from 5:00 pm to 7:00\npm each Sunday evening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Viva La Musica begins Sunday,\nJuly 14<sup>th<\/sup> at Miller Park, on the corner of North 4<sup>th<\/sup>\nStreet and East E Street, with Rebeldes de la Sierra. Miller Park will also host Victor Manuel y su\nNueva Juventud on July 21<sup>st<\/sup>, and Los Plebes de Tierra Caliente on\nJuly 28<sup>th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Martin Luther King Jr. Park, on the\ncorner of South 8<sup>th<\/sup> Street and East Beech Street, will feature Viva\nLa Musica concerts by Liberados on August 4<sup>th<\/sup>, La Cuarta Generacion\nDTC on August 11<sup>th<\/sup>, and Senal de Oaxaco on August 18<sup>th<\/sup>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Viva La Musica&#8217;s finale for this summer will be from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on September 15<sup>th<\/sup> at Miller Park. The September 15<sup>th<\/sup> finale will feature entertainment by Extremo Sierreno and  Mariachi Huenachi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As for the movies, the Outdoor\nSummer Cinema Series returns Sunday, July 14<sup>th<\/sup> to the City&#8217;s\nChesterley Park, on the corner of 40<sup>th<\/sup> Avenue and River Road. The\nmovies will each begin at sunset, about 8:30 pm, on six consecutive Sundays.\nThe film series begins with &#8220;Incredibles 2&#8221; on July 14<sup>th<\/sup>\nand continues with &#8220;Beethoven&#8221; on July 21<sup>st<\/sup>, &#8220;Kung Fu\nPanda&#8221; on July 28<sup>th<\/sup>, &#8220;Finding Nemo&#8221; on August 4<sup>th<\/sup>,\n&#8220;Ralph Breaks the Internet&#8221; on August 11<sup>th<\/sup>, and &#8220;Shazam&#8221;\non August 19<sup>th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For more information, call\n575-6020 or see Page 9 of the City of Yakima Parks and Recreation 2019 Summer\nProgram Guide.
