City of Yakima parks will be\nalive with the sound of music – and movies – during three different series that\nbegin this week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The idea is to encourage\nfamilies to bring blankets or lawn chairs and enjoy the free concerts and films\noutdoors,” said Parks & Recreation Manager Ken Wilkinson. “The\ncommunity is invited to relax and listen to\ngreat music or watch family films in a beautiful park.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Summer Sunset Concert Series\nat Franklin Park, 2101 Tieton Drive, will kick things off on Friday, July 12th<\/sup>\nwith Bart Roderick & Friends. Other performances – all from 6:00 pm to 8:00\npm on Fridays – include Camille Bloom on July 19th<\/sup>, Snaccs on July 26th<\/sup>,\nIan McFeron Band on August 2nd<\/sup>, Cosmos’s Dream on August 9th<\/sup>\nand the Joe Brooks Quartet on August 16th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Viva La Musica Concert Series\nalso returns and this again will be held at two City parks from 5:00 pm to 7:00\npm each Sunday evening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Viva La Musica begins Sunday,\nJuly 14th<\/sup> at Miller Park, on the corner of North 4th<\/sup>\nStreet and East E Street, with Rebeldes de la Sierra. Miller Park will also host Victor Manuel y su\nNueva Juventud on July 21st<\/sup>, and Los Plebes de Tierra Caliente on\nJuly 28th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Martin Luther King Jr. Park, on the\ncorner of South 8th<\/sup> Street and East Beech Street, will feature Viva\nLa Musica concerts by Liberados on August 4th<\/sup>, La Cuarta Generacion\nDTC on August 11th<\/sup>, and Senal de Oaxaco on August 18th<\/sup>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Viva La Musica’s finale for this summer will be from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on September 15th<\/sup> at Miller Park. The September 15th<\/sup> finale will feature entertainment by Extremo Sierreno and Mariachi Huenachi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n As for the movies, the Outdoor\nSummer Cinema Series returns Sunday, July 14th<\/sup> to the City’s\nChesterley Park, on the corner of 40th<\/sup> Avenue and River Road.
