{"id":7590,"date":"2019-07-23T10:13:52","date_gmt":"2019-07-23T17:13:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/?p=7590"},"modified":"2019-07-23T10:13:53","modified_gmt":"2019-07-23T17:13:53","slug":"franklin-park-pickleball-courts-now-open","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/franklin-park-pickleball-courts-now-open\/","title":{"rendered":"Franklin Park Pickleball Courts Now Open"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A project more than\na month in the making is now complete as eight pickleball courts opened\nrecently at the City of Yakima&#8217;s Franklin Park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;The volunteers and staff\ngave many hours of time to the project,&#8221; said Parks and Recreation Manager\nKen Wilkinson. &#8220;It is a great addition to our park system and has already\nbeen appreciated and utilized by so many people.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Work began in early\nJune to convert three of the six tennis courts at Franklin Park into eight\ncourts for pickleball, a fast growing sport that combines elements of tennis,\nbadminton and ping-pong.
