The exercise will continue through Saturday, September 28<sup>th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During its meeting on August 20<sup>th<\/sup>,\nthe Yakima City Council approved a lease with the U.S. Air Force for the\nMobility Guardian exercise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Air Mobility Command\u2019s exercise,\nwhich will run 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, is expected to be the most\nrealistic real-world, scenario-driven training the command has ever\nundertaken.&nbsp; It was designed to allow the\nforces to \u201ctrain like they fight\u201d by developing and improving techniques and\nprocedures that enhance air mobility operations.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally, this exercise will be\nhosted by the 92nd and 141st Air Refueling Wings at Fairchild Air Force Base\n(AFB). Approximately 40 U.S. aircraft will join aircraft from more than two dozen\ninternational partners, along with more than 4,000 U.S.\nand international Air Force, Army, Navy and Marine Corps aviators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aircraft\nexpected to be used during the exercise at Yakima Air Terminal-McAllister Field\ninclude the KC-10 Extender, KC-46A Pegasus,\nKC-135 Stratotanker, C-17 Globemaster and C-130H\/J Hercules, as well as Blackhawk and\nChinook helicopters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe community is\ngoing to witness an increased number of military aircraft utilizing the\nairport\u201d said Yakima Air Terminal-McAllister Field Director Rob Peterson. \u201cGiven\nthe military\u2019s presence within the valley the public may witness a minor\nincrease in aircraft noise and vibrations, but at night the Air Force will try\nto be sensitive to the public.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anyone\ninterested can watch the operation from behind a fence at the airport. \u201cThe\nbest spot to view arriving and departing aircraft would be the aircraft viewing\narea located south of the McAllister Museum of Aviation,\u201d Peterson said.
