{"id":8023,"date":"2019-12-02T14:00:16","date_gmt":"2019-12-02T22:00:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/?p=8023"},"modified":"2019-12-02T14:00:17","modified_gmt":"2019-12-02T22:00:17","slug":"downtown-yakima-events-usher-in-the-holiday-season","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/downtown-yakima-events-usher-in-the-holiday-season\/","title":{"rendered":"Downtown Yakima Events Usher in the Holiday Season"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The calendar is full of family fun holiday festivities this\nseason in Downtown Yakima.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It all begins Saturday, December 7<sup>th<\/sup>, with free\nhorse-drawn wagon rides that begin and end at the Community Christmas Tree at\nMillennium Plaza. This is the sixth consecutive year of Downtown Yakima wagon\nrides.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Offered every 20 to 25 minutes on a first-come,\nfirst-served basis, the rides are provided by the Downtown Association of\nYakima (DAY) and headed up by Double J. Ranch. The rides are from 12:00 pm to 3:00\npm each of the next three Saturdays; December 7, 14, and 21. Parking spaces on\nthe west side of 3<sup>rd<\/sup> Street, adjacent to Millennium Plaza, will be\nclosed during the horse wagon rides.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On December 14<sup>th<\/sup> and 21<sup>st<\/sup>, a food\ntruck will be on-site during the rides. One parking space in the parking lot at\nMillennium Plaza will be closed for the food truck on those two days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The highlight will be the 20<sup>th<\/sup> annual Christmas\nLight Parade at 6:00 pm on Sunday, December 8<sup>th<\/sup>. The procession will\nbegin at 6<sup>th<\/sup> Avenue and continue down Yakima Avenue to 3<sup>rd<\/sup>\nStreet. Parade organizers anticipate more than 4,000 spectators. The parade is\norganized by the Sunfair Parade Association.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No on-street parking will be allowed along the parade route\nfrom 4:00 pm on December 8<sup>th<\/sup> until the completion of the\nparade.&nbsp; The parade route will also be\nclosed to motorized traffic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Immediately after the parade, a lighting ceremony will be\nheld for the community tree at Millennium Plaza.
