{"id":8057,"date":"2019-12-05T12:23:42","date_gmt":"2019-12-05T20:23:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/?p=8057"},"modified":"2019-12-13T08:58:51","modified_gmt":"2019-12-13T16:58:51","slug":"yakima-transit-offering-free-shuttle-bus-to-luminaria","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/yakima-transit-offering-free-shuttle-bus-to-luminaria\/","title":{"rendered":"Yakima Transit Offering Free Shuttle Bus to Luminaria"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Yakima Transit will provide free\nshuttle bus service to the Yakima Area Arboretum&#8217;s 2019 Luminaria Candle-Lit\nWalk event on Friday, December 13<sup>th<\/sup> and Saturday, December 14<sup>th<\/sup>.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Shuttle buses will run\ncontinuously from the parking lot of the current U-Haul Neighborhood Dealer (formerly the K-Mart store parking lot), located south of Highway 24. The\nArboretum is located north of Highway 24, just across the road from the U-Haul\nparking lot.&nbsp; Shuttle buses will load\npassengers in the parking lot and take them directly to the Arboretum&#8217;s Jewett\nInterpretive Center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yakima Transit shuttles will run\nfrom 5:30 pm to 10:30 pm on both December 13<sup>th<\/sup> and 14<sup>th<\/sup>.\nThe Luminaria Walk event on those days will run from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;No vehicle traffic will be\nallowed on the Arboretum&#8217;s grounds this year,&#8221; said Yakima Transit Manager\nAlvie Maxey.&nbsp; &#8220;By not allowing\ntraffic on the grounds, congestion will be relieved and safety will be improved.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During Luminaria 2018, Yakima\nTransit provided 6,393 passenger trips during the 2-day event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nArboretum&#8217;s annual Luminaria Walk has become a signature event for the\norganization. It features a loop trail through the Arboretum&#8217;s landscape lit by\nthe light of more than 1,000 candles.&nbsp; While walking the trail, visitors\nwill enjoy listening to music from the Arboretum\u2019s Carillon Bell Tower and see\ngroves of trees strung&nbsp;with thousands of twinkling lights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Inside the Jewett Interpretative\nCenter, Starbuck&#8217;s coffee and Tree Top apple cider will be served. Live music will\nbe performed by a variety of local artists in the Center.
