{"id":8274,"date":"2020-01-31T13:59:51","date_gmt":"2020-01-31T21:59:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/?p=8274"},"modified":"2020-01-31T13:59:52","modified_gmt":"2020-01-31T21:59:52","slug":"crack-sealing-project-to-impact-traffic-on-1st-street","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/crack-sealing-project-to-impact-traffic-on-1st-street\/","title":{"rendered":"Crack Sealing Project to Impact Traffic on 1st Street"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A project involving &#8220;crack\nsealing&#8221; will impact traffic along a portion of 1<sup>st<\/sup> Street from\nMonday, February 3<sup>rd<\/sup> through Friday, February 7<sup>th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>City of Yakima crews will be filing cracks along the\nsection of 1<sup>st<\/sup> Street between Pacific Avenue and Lincoln Avenue from\nFebruary 3<sup>rd<\/sup> through February 7<sup>th<\/sup>.&nbsp; Work on the project will take place from 7:00\nam to 3:30 pm each day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Traffic restrictions will be in place in the northbound\nlanes of 1<sup>st<\/sup> Street while the project is underway.&nbsp; Traffic will be restricted to one northbound\nlane at times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Crack sealing is one of the most inexpensive forms of road\nmaintenance and is an effective method of preventing water from penetrating the\nroadbed and causing further damage including, most notably, potholes.&nbsp; Cracks caused by fatigue, changes in\ntemperature, regular traffic use, etc. are first cleaned using pressurized air.&nbsp; Cracks are then filled with an asphalt\nemulsion, thereby preserving not only the roadbed, but the pavement adjacent to\nthe cracks.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Drivers are reminded that the speed limit through all\ntraffic-related works zones within the City of Yakima is 20 miles-per-hour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the project, traffic delays in the area are likely\nto occur.&nbsp; Drivers should use alternate\nroutes until the project is completed.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Access to homes and businesses in the project area will be\nmaintained as best as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As always, the schedule for this type of a project is subject to change daily dependent on weather, equipment failure, and emergencies. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For additional information about this project, contact Streets and Traffic Operations Manager Joe Rosenlund at 576-6430.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-file\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/6\/files\/sites\/6\/1st-Street-Crack-Sealing-Project-News-Release.pdf\">1st-Street-Crack-Sealing-Project-News-Release<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/6\/files\/sites\/6\/1st-Street-Crack-Sealing-Project-News-Release.pdf\" class=\"wp-block-file__button\" download>Download<\/a><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A project involving &#8220;crack sealing&#8221; will impact traffic along a portion of 1st Street from Monday, February 3rd through Friday, February 7th.
