The registration deadline is Wednesday, March 25th.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Contact Heritage Garden Program Assistant Ann Autrey at 509-528-2683 for more about the workshop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Yakima Basin Integrated Plan (YBIP) Municipal Water\nConservation Committee is one of the workshop sponsors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;The focus is on creating water-wise landscapes and\ngardens in our arid climate,&#8221; said City of Yakima Assistant Public Works\nDirector David Brown, who chairs the YBIP&#8217;s Water Conservation Subgroup.\n&#8220;The workshop is being offered as part of the YBIP&#8217;s ongoing efforts in\nwater conservation.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Besides learning about creating water-wise landscapes and\ngardens, workshop attendees will learn about:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The Cowiche Canyon Conservancy<\/li><li>The Central Washington Chapter of the Washington State Native Plant Society<\/li><li>The different kinds of native pollinators attracted to native plants, presented by retired entomologist Dr. Bob Gillespie of Wenatchee Valley College<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The workshop\ncontinues the City of Yakima&#8217;s water conservation emphasis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The City has installed\nlandscaping in Downtown Yakima on the east side of 2<sup>nd<\/sup> Street from\nYakima Avenue to Staff Sgt. Pendleton Way. The landscaping requires little\nwater and is reducing water consumption by about a third.
