{"id":8404,"date":"2020-02-25T14:56:24","date_gmt":"2020-02-25T22:56:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/?p=8404"},"modified":"2020-02-25T14:56:24","modified_gmt":"2020-02-25T22:56:24","slug":"yakima-yard-waste-collection-begins-march-2nd","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/yakima-yard-waste-collection-begins-march-2nd\/","title":{"rendered":"Yakima Yard Waste Collection Begins March 2nd"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Yard waste collection in the City of Yakima will begin Monday,\nMarch 2<sup>nd<\/sup>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The City&#8217;s Refuse Division will provide weekly yard waste\npick-up from March 2<sup>nd<\/sup> through November 30<sup>th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Please have the green yard waste cart available by\n6:00 a.m. on the curb or alley on the day of scheduled pick-up,&#8221; said\nRefuse and Recycling Manager Loretta Zammarchi. &#8220;Place the container 4\nfeet from any obstacles.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is a charge for the service, which is limited to\ncollecting grass clippings, leaves, and small branches. Branches should be cut\ninto lengths of 3 feet or less and not exceed 3 inches in diameter. All yard\nwaste must fit inside the cart with the lid closed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Our trucks can pick up yard waste carts weighing up\nto 150 pounds,&#8221; Zammarchi said. &#8220;Carts exceeding the weight limit\nwill not be collected.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Items that are unacceptable for yard waste pick-up include\ngarbage, plastic bags, food scraps, animal waste, ashes and sod, building\nmaterials, and tree trunks or large branches. The items\nare not acceptable by the Yakima County landfill as yard waste.
