{"id":8525,"date":"2020-03-16T16:06:57","date_gmt":"2020-03-16T23:06:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/?p=8525"},"modified":"2020-03-19T16:30:50","modified_gmt":"2020-03-19T23:30:50","slug":"yakima-closing-or-limiting-access-to-city-facilities-because-of-covid-19","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/yakima-closing-or-limiting-access-to-city-facilities-because-of-covid-19\/","title":{"rendered":"Yakima Closing or Limiting Access to City Facilities Because of COVID-19"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In response to an executive order\nissued by Washington State Governor Jay Inslee today that limits gatherings to\n50 or fewer people in order to contain the spread of COVID-19, the City of\nYakima has closed or limited public access to City-owned facilities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Harman Senior Center, the\nHenry Beauchamp Community Center, the Washington Fruit Community Center, the\nYakima Valley Visitor Information Center, and Lions Pool, all City-owned, are\nclosed until further notice. City recreation programs and events have been\ncancelled until further notice.&nbsp; Events\nat the Capitol Theatre and the Yakima Convention Center, both of which are also\nowned by the City, have been cancelled at least for the remainder of March.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All City board, commission, and\ncommittee meetings are cancelled until further notice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally, the Council\u2019s March\n17<sup>th<\/sup> regular meeting will be the last to take place publicly during\nthe month of March.&nbsp; No general public\ncomment will be allowed at the March 17<sup>th<\/sup> Council regular\nmeeting.&nbsp; Community members are encouraged\nto not attend the meeting unless absolutely necessary.&nbsp; For example, a public hearing on the Consolidated\nAnnual Performance Evaluation Report (CAPER) will take place at the March 17<sup>th<\/sup>\nCouncil meeting and, by law, public comment on the CAPER will be accepted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Community members can still\nprovide input and feedback to Council members via e-mail, postal mail, and\ntelephone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The City is continuing to provide\nall services, but strongly encourages community members to utilize online, telephone,\nand other options to conduct business with the City.&nbsp; The City\u2019s website (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\">www.yakimawa.gov<\/a>) includes directions for\ncommunity members to follow to conduct business with the City by other means\nthan in person.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Yakima Police Department and Yakima Fire Department are continuing to respond to incidents.&nbsp; However, community members are strongly encouraged to report incidents online or by telephone. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additional information will be provided regarding the City\u2019s response to the COVID-19 emergency as necessary. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-file\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/6\/files\/sites\/6\/City-Closing-or-Limiting-Access-to-Facilities-News-Release.pdf\">City-Closing-or-Limiting-Access-to-Facilities-News-Release<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/6\/files\/sites\/6\/City-Closing-or-Limiting-Access-to-Facilities-News-Release.pdf\" class=\"wp-block-file__button\" download>Download<\/a><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In response to an executive order issued by Washington State Governor Jay Inslee today that limits gatherings to 50 or fewer people in order to contain the spread of COVID-19, the City of Yakima has closed or limited public access to City-owned facilities.
