{"id":8545,"date":"2020-03-18T15:05:21","date_gmt":"2020-03-18T22:05:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/?p=8545"},"modified":"2020-03-19T16:30:06","modified_gmt":"2020-03-19T23:30:06","slug":"city-of-yakima-facility-restrictions-continue-amid-covid-19-emergency","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/city-of-yakima-facility-restrictions-continue-amid-covid-19-emergency\/","title":{"rendered":"City of Yakima Facility Restrictions Continue Amid COVID-19 Emergency"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The closure of some City of\nYakima facilities and limited public access to other City facilities remain in\neffect in an effort to contain the spread of the COVID-19 virus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Harman Senior Center, the\nHenry Beauchamp Community Center, the Washington Fruit Community Center, the\nYakima Valley Visitor Information Center, and Lions Pool, all City-owned, are\nclosed until further notice.&nbsp; Likewise, City\nrecreation programs and events have been cancelled until further notice.&nbsp; Events at the Capitol Theatre and the Yakima\nConvention Center, both of which are also owned by the City, have been\ncancelled at least for the remainder of March.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All City board, commission, and\ncommittee meetings are cancelled until further notice.&nbsp; Yakima Municipal Court is operating at a\nreduced level of service, meaning some court processes are currently suspended.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The City has implemented social\ndistancing practices at all currently-open City facilities.&nbsp; The City has increased cleaning and\nsanitizing efforts at City facilities, including Yakima Transit buses, and is\nmaking every effort to safeguard the health and well-being of its employees and\ncustomers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The closure of currently-open\nCity facilities is being closely evaluated and considered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The City is continuing to provide\nall services, but strongly encourages community members to utilize online,\ntelephone, and other options to conduct business with the City.&nbsp; The City\u2019s website (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\">www.yakimawa.gov<\/a>) includes directions for\ncommunity members to follow to conduct business with the City by other means\nthan in person.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Yakima Police Department and\nYakima Fire Department are continuing to respond to incidents, however,\ncommunity members are strongly encouraged to report incidents online or by\ntelephone.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Community members can still\nprovide input and feedback to Council members via e-mail, postal mail, and\ntelephone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>City staff is regularly receiving\ninformation from the Yakima County Health District regarding the COVID-19 virus\nand is sharing that information on its various communications platforms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe City intends to continue to\nprovide all services during this emergency,\u201d said City Communications &amp;\nPublic Affairs Director Randy Beehler.&nbsp; \u201cThis\nis certainly a challenging time for us all.&nbsp;\nBut through diligence, cooperation, and coordination, we will meet the\nchallenge,\u201d said Beehler. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additional information will be provided regarding the City\u2019s response to the COVID-19 emergency as necessary. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-file\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/6\/files\/sites\/6\/City-Facilities-Restrictions-Remain-in-Place-News-Release.pdf\">City-Facilities-Restrictions-Remain-in-Place-News-Release<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/6\/files\/sites\/6\/City-Facilities-Restrictions-Remain-in-Place-News-Release.pdf\" class=\"wp-block-file__button\" download>Download<\/a><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The closure of some City of Yakima facilities and limited public access to other City facilities remain in effect in an effort to contain the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
