{"id":8553,"date":"2020-03-19T15:31:46","date_gmt":"2020-03-19T22:31:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/?p=8553"},"modified":"2020-03-19T16:29:16","modified_gmt":"2020-03-19T23:29:16","slug":"city-hall-and-other-city-facilities-to-close-to-public-access","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/city-hall-and-other-city-facilities-to-close-to-public-access\/","title":{"rendered":"City Hall and Other City Facilities to Close to Public Access"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In an effort to contain the spread of the COVID-19 virus, Yakima City Hall, the City\u2019s Public Works Administration Building, the City\u2019s wastewater treatment plant office,  the City\u2019s Community Relations office (YCTV-Y-PAC) the Yakima Police Department customer service counter, the Yakima Fire Department administrative office, the City\u2019s Legal Department office, and the City\u2019s Office of Neighborhood Development will be closed to public access as of 5:00 pm Friday, March 20<sup>th<\/sup>.&nbsp; The public access closures will remain in effect until further notice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The City continues to provide all\nmunicipal services, but strongly encourages community members to utilize\nonline, telephone, and other options to conduct business with the City.&nbsp; The City\u2019s website &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\">www.yakimawa.gov<\/a> &#8211; includes directions for\ncommunity members to follow to conduct business with the City by other means\nthan in person.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Yakima Police Department and\nYakima Fire Department are continuing to respond to incidents, however,\ncommunity members are strongly encouraged to report incidents online or by\ntelephone.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last Thursday, the Harman Senior\nCenter, the Henry Beauchamp Community Center, the Washington Fruit Community\nCenter, the Yakima Valley Visitor Information Center, and Lions Pool, all\nCity-owned, were closed until further notice.&nbsp;\nLikewise, City recreation programs and events have been cancelled until\nfurther notice.&nbsp; Events at the Capitol\nTheatre and the Yakima Convention Center, both of which are also owned by the\nCity, are cancelled at least for the remainder of March.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yakima Municipal Court is\noperating at a reduced level of service, meaning some court processes are\ncurrently suspended.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All City board, commission, and\ncommittee meetings are cancelled until further notice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Community members can still\nprovide input and feedback to Council members via e-mail, postal mail, and\ntelephone.&nbsp; Community members can report\ngraffiti, traffic signal outages, potholes, and other issues that need to be\nbrought to the City\u2019s attention through the Yak Back feature on the City\u2019s\nwebsite &#8211; www.yakimawa.gov\/yak-back\/<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>City staff is regularly receiving\ninformation from the Yakima County Health District regarding the COVID-19 virus\nand is sharing that information on its various communications platforms.&nbsp; The City\u2019s website includes information about\nthe City\u2019s response to the COVID-19 emergency as well as links to other sources\nof information about the virus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe City is adjusting to the COVID-19 emergency as it evolves,\u201d said City Communications &amp;
