The term of office is two years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Groom was invited to the board due to his previous certifications and years of committee work with the California Municipal Treasurers Association.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>He served as chief financial officer (CFO) of three government agencies over 15 years in California and Texas before coming to Yakima in 2018. Groom routinely reviews city investment policies in Washington and city budgets nationwide.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The City of Yakima\u2019s cash and investment balances are typically around $95 million to $100 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2019, the WPTA recognized the City\u2019s investment policy with a Certificate of Excellence.
