{"id":8818,"date":"2020-05-07T11:06:54","date_gmt":"2020-05-07T18:06:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/?p=8818"},"modified":"2020-05-07T11:13:33","modified_gmt":"2020-05-07T18:13:33","slug":"yakima-transit-to-receive-cares-act-funding","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/yakima-transit-to-receive-cares-act-funding\/","title":{"rendered":"Yakima Transit to Receive CARES Act Funding"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Yakima Transit will receive more than $6 million in federal funds through a Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) grant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yakima Transit is slated to receive $6,268,035 in funding from the Federal Transit Administration as part of the CARES Act, which is in place to assist with economic impacts due to COVID-19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis money will help us maintain our current schedule, routes and staff at regular capacity,\u201d said Yakima Transit Manager Alvie Maxey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yakima Transit continues to take precautions to stem the spread of COVID-19. They include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Daily disinfection procedures in all of its vehicles and facilities.<\/li><li>Bus operators wear personal protective equipment (masks and gloves) while on duty.<\/li><li>Plexiglass doors installed in buses between transit drivers and the public.<\/li><li>Since City facilities are closed due to the pandemic, bus passes and tickets can be purchased at the Transit Center, located at South 4<sup>th<\/sup> Street and Walnut Avenue, calling 575-6175 or at Wray\u2019s grocery stores in Yakima.
