Council\u2019s action extends the declaration through Tuesday, July 7<sup>th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The declaration enables the City to potentially be eligible for state and federal assistance needed to meet costs associated with the COVID-19 emergency and to make purchases necessary to respond to the emergency without usual procurement procedures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gov. Jay Inslee\u2019s stay-at-home orders expired on Monday, June 1<sup>st<\/sup>. However, Yakima County remains in Phase 1 of the state\u2019s four-phase recovery plan from COVID-19 due to the area\u2019s high rate of infection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mayor Patricia Byers signed the initial emergency declaration on March 12<sup>th<\/sup>, which took effect immediately.&nbsp; Under state law, the full Council needed to ratify the declaration in order for it to remain in effect long term.
