{"id":897,"date":"2013-07-19T08:44:50","date_gmt":"2013-07-19T15:44:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/?p=897"},"modified":"2013-07-19T09:04:58","modified_gmt":"2013-07-19T16:04:58","slug":"new-tuesday-night-downtown-yakima-farmers-market-launched","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/new-tuesday-night-downtown-yakima-farmers-market-launched\/","title":{"rendered":"New Tuesday Night Downtown Yakima Farmers Market Launched"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Now there is another great reason to come and spend time in Downtown Yakima.\u00a0 The popular Yakima Farmer&#8217;s Market is expanding to include a Tuesday night event in the heart of the city.<\/p>\n<p>Starting July 23<sup>rd<\/sup>, the Yakima Farmer\u2019s Market will be open each Tuesday from 4:00 pm until 7:30 pm and will be located behind the Capitol Theatre on South 4<sup>th<\/sup> Street.\u00a0 While smaller in size than the long running and successful Sunday Yakima Farmers Market, organizers are confident the Tuesday Farmer\u2019s Market will become a Downtown draw because it will have plenty of the same outstanding elements people have come to enjoy from the Sunday market.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We expect the event to fill 4<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0Street between Yakima Avenue and Chestnut Avenue,&#8221; said Economic Development Manager Sean Hawkins.\u00a0 \u201cThe response from the Farmer\u2019s Market vendors has been tremendous.\u00a0 They are very excited about the Tuesday market,\u201d said Hawkins.\u00a0 \u201cAnd community members we\u2019ve heard from are equally excited to have another day that they can get fresh fruits and vegetables directly from the people who grow them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In addition to offering the expected seasonal agricultural products, the Tuesday Yakima Farmer\u2019s Market will also feature arts and crafts, homemade jellies and jams, handcrafted soaps and candles, and many other items from by local vendors. \u00a0\u00a0Food booths will also line the street and live music will resonate through out the event.<\/p>\n<p>The Tuesday Yakima Farmer\u2019s Market is expected to run through September 24<sup>th<\/sup>.\u00a0 Free parking will be available for market visitors after 5:00 pm in the Tower building parking lot located between 4<sup>th<\/sup> Street and Naches Avenue and can be accessed by drivers from its entrance off Naches Avenue.<\/p>\n<p>The Tuesday Yakima Farmer\u2019s Market is another of several Downtown Yakima summertime events that the City has launched this year as part of its revitalization efforts in the core of the city.<\/p>\n<p>The Lunchtime Live Concert Series features local and regional artists every Friday at PerformancePark on the corner of A Street and 2<sup>nd<\/sup> Street from 11:45 am to 1:15 pm.\u00a0 The Lunchtime Live series will run through August 30<sup>th<\/sup>.\u00a0 The Downtown Summer Nights Concert Series offers the opportunity to enjoy local, regional, and nationally renowned performers every Thursday evening from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm.\u00a0 The Downtown Summer Nights events, which will run through August 29<sup>th<\/sup>, are held on 4<sup>th<\/sup> Street in the same space where the Tuesday Yakima Farmer\u2019s Market will be staged.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Contact:\u00a0\u00a0 Economic Development Manager Sean Hawkins \u2013 575-6274 <\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Communications &amp; Public Affairs Director Randy Beehler \u2013 901-1142<\/b><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/6\/files\/sites\/6\/Tuesday-Farmers-Market-pdf-News-Release.pdf\">Tuesday Farmer&#8217;s Market pdf News Release<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Now there is another great reason to come and spend time in Downtown Yakima.\u00a0 The popular Yakima Farmer&#8217;s Market is expanding to include a Tuesday night event in the heart of the city.
