{"id":9355,"date":"2020-08-05T14:48:02","date_gmt":"2020-08-05T21:48:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/?p=9355"},"modified":"2020-08-05T14:49:27","modified_gmt":"2020-08-05T21:49:27","slug":"harman-center-parking-lot-hosts-august-events","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/harman-center-parking-lot-hosts-august-events\/","title":{"rendered":"Harman Center Parking Lot Hosts August Events"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The community is invited to participate in a number of activities at the Harman Center this month, all taking place at the senior center\u2019s parking lot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Harman Center may be closed due to COVID-19 restrictions, but that isn\u2019t keeping us from being creative and having some fun,\u201d said Recreation Program Supervisor Leslie Richards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Events planned for August at the Harman Center parking lot include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Honk, if you LOVE a Senior! \u2013 <em>Every Tuesday from 9:00 to 9:30 am<\/em><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHarman Center staff will be standing on the corner of 65<sup>th<\/sup> Avenue and Summitview Avenue waving at all who drive by to say hello and how much we miss our Harman Center participants,\u201d said Richards. \u201cIt\u2019s a way to spread positivity and kindness!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Senior Parade \u2013 <em>Thursday, August 13<sup>th<\/sup> from 10:00 to 11:00 am<\/em><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Have fun, decorate your vehicle and get out for a drive through the Harman Center parking lot. The first 100 parade participants receive a coupon for a free treat. Route: Please drive up 65th Avenue from Chestnut Avenue. Follow the signs and cones for parade entrance and exit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Chalk Art Festival \u2013 <em>Thursday, August 20<sup>th<\/sup><\/em><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The theme for the family-friendly festival is \u201cSummertime Fun.\u201d Each group that wants to participate will be provided a numbered area of the parking lot to design. Then, Friday through Sunday, August 21<sup>st<\/sup> &#8211; 23<sup>rd<\/sup>, the public is invited to drive through the Harman Center parking lot and vote for their favorite chalk creation. Prizes will be awarded to top chalk art designs.
