{"id":9518,"date":"2020-09-03T11:57:46","date_gmt":"2020-09-03T18:57:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/?p=9518"},"modified":"2020-09-03T11:57:46","modified_gmt":"2020-09-03T18:57:46","slug":"yakima-health-district-news-release-air-quality-unhealthy-in-yakima-county","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/yakima-health-district-news-release-air-quality-unhealthy-in-yakima-county\/","title":{"rendered":"Yakima Health District News Release &#8211; Air Quality Unhealthy in Yakima County"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The air quality levels in Yakima County have reached unhealthy levels for everyone today, Thursday, September 3rd, due to the current wildfires. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When air quality is unhealthy and reaches an air quality index (WAQA) range of 151 to 200, everyone is recommended to stay indoors and limit outdoor activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Breathing in wildfire smoke can cause a range of health problems, including:<br>\u2022 Trouble breathing<br>\u2022 Coughing<br>\u2022 Stinging eyes<br>\u2022 Irritated sinuses<br>\u2022 Headaches<br>\u2022 Asthma attack<br>\u2022 Chest pain<br>\u2022 Fast heartbeat<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To avoid experiencing symptoms, keep your windows, doors, and vents closed while at home and driving in your car. Do not add to indoor pollution by using vacuums, candles, fireplaces, or gas stoves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wildfire smoke can affect anyone, but especially sensitive groups. Young children, older adults, and individuals with heart and lung disease are at greater risk for smoke associated health problems and should remain indoors when possible.
