{"id":9988,"date":"2020-12-01T17:58:16","date_gmt":"2020-12-02T01:58:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/?p=9988"},"modified":"2020-12-01T18:08:08","modified_gmt":"2020-12-02T02:08:08","slug":"yakima-city-council-approves-2021-budget","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/news\/yakima-city-council-approves-2021-budget\/","title":{"rendered":"Yakima City Council Approves 2021 Budget"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Yakima City Council approved the City\u2019s 2021 budget during its regular meeting tonight, Tuesday, December 1<sup>st<\/sup>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 2021 budget calls for $249,825,279 in total expenditures, a decrease of about $2.5 million from the City of Yakima\u2019s 2020 year-end estimated expenditures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 2021 budget achieves the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Maintains the City\u2019s General Fund reserves with a $34,190 increase for 2021<\/li><li>Develops 5-year capital budgets for all Capital Funds.<\/li><li>Continues service delivery in all City departments and divisions through the COVID-19 emergency.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBudget forecasts for 2021 were made while the COVID-19 emergency was still having a profound impact on the local economy and the City\u2019s delivery of services,\u201d said Finance and Budget Director Steve Groom. \u201cSales tax forecast, while apparently having recovered during 2020, still has some uncertainty so we\u2019re being cautious. Lodging taxes are forecast to be impacted through the entirety of the 2021 budget. Other revenues have similar, but lesser, impacts to the ability to forecast.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Final approval of the 2021 budget followed two public hearings held in November.
