The Yakima City Council seeks volunteers interested in serving on City of Yakima boards, committees, and commissions. The following boards have vacancies or upcoming term expirations:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2981 Arts Commission has two agency representative positions (Valley Museum and Seasons) and one community representative position vacant.
\u2981 Bicycle & Pedestrian Advisory Committee has one vacancy
\u2981 Yakima Housing Authority Board will have one term ending in January 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More about the volunteer opportunities:
\u2981 Members of the Arts Commission<\/strong> serve 3-year terms. The agency representative represents local arts organizations established by Council. The community member position shall be from diverse backgrounds and have no vested interest in any particular art or cultural endeavor. At least three community reps shall be city residents.
\u2981 The Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee<\/strong> has seven members. Members serve a four-year term, and one member may be a resident of Yakima County if they also either own property within the City of Yakima or own a business within the City of Yakima.
\u2981 The Yakima Housing Authority<\/strong> has five members. Members serve a 5-year term and City of Yakima residency is not required. The meetings are held every fourth Wednesday at the Housing Authority Office. A resume is required to be submitted with the application.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some commissions require a supplemental application or resume to be submitted. Additional information on the duties and responsibilities of each committee and the application form can be found online at Boards & Commissions | City Council<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anyone interested in applying for a position can submit their application to the City Clerk\u2019s Office no later than the end of business day on January 2, 2026. Applications will be reviewed by the Council Nominating Committee. It is the responsibility of the City Council to appoint people to serve on the governing bodies of those organizations.<\/p>\n\n\n
