{"id":6306,"date":"2025-12-04T09:21:00","date_gmt":"2025-12-04T17:21:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/points-of-interest\/?p=6306"},"modified":"2025-12-15T14:47:41","modified_gmt":"2025-12-15T22:47:41","slug":"adopt-a-block-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/media\/points-of-interest\/adopt-a-block-program\/","title":{"rendered":"Adopt-A-Block program"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The City of Yakima is partnering with Yakima Habitat for Humanity to offer an Adopt-A-Block program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Residents and organizations can choose to adopt a city block as the City of Yakima identifies partner neighborhoods who wish to be adopted and receive volunteer assistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Information and sign-up details are available at&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/adopt-a-block-yakima.hub.arcgis.com\/\">Adopt-A-Block<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are in the initial phase of getting the program up and going,\u201d City Manager Vicki Baker said during a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/legistarweb-production.s3.amazonaws.com\/uploads\/attachment\/pdf\/3592090\/Sept._9_presentation_to_Council_20250905.pdf\">year-in-review presentation<\/a>&nbsp;to the Yakima City Council on September 9<sup>th<\/sup>. \u201cWe are looking for community members who are interested in being \u2018champions\u2019 for blocks.&nbsp;Those champions would be the primary coordinators and leaders of getting things going for a specific block.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Baker added, \u201cIt will take some time to get the program up and running. It will be a slow roll out.
