{"id":5,"date":"2012-07-24T08:42:36","date_gmt":"2012-07-24T15:42:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/services\/city-attorney\/?page_id=5"},"modified":"2024-11-05T14:19:21","modified_gmt":"2024-11-05T22:19:21","slug":"city-of-yakima-city-attorney","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/services\/city-attorney\/","title":{"rendered":"City of Yakima City Attorney"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Welcome!<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The City Attorney&#8217;s Office is committed to providing the highest quality legal counsel and representation to the City\u2019s elected and appointed officials, the City Manager and the departments, boards and commissions of the City, as well as for managing the legal matters that involve the City government in its day-to-day operations, and for the prosecution of the misdemeanor and gross misdemeanor crimes that occur within the City limits.&nbsp; Among other things, the City Attorney prepares legal documents, including City ordinances, resolutions and contracts; and reviews and prepares amendments to the City Charter and Yakima Municipal Code to maintain consistency with current state and federal laws.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The City of Yakima Legal Department is comprised of two divisions, the <a title=\"Civil Division\" href=\"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/services\/city-attorney\/civil-division\/\">Civil Division<\/a> and the <a title=\"Prosecution Division\" href=\"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/services\/city-attorney\/prosecution-division\/\">Prosecution Division<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The City Attorney\u2019s Office does not represent the individual citizens of the City in private matters such as criminal defense, landlord\/tenant issues, private property issues, recovery of loaned money, divorce issues, recovery of wages from an employer, child custody issues, etc.&nbsp; For matters such as these, citizens should contact and consult with a private attorney, or contact the Washington State Bar Association Lawyer Referral Services&nbsp;at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wsba.org\/Resources-and-Services\/Find-Legal-Help\">Find Legal Help<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Welcome!
