The Communications &amp; Public Affairs Director serves as the\nfranchise officer for the nine telecommunications franchises and the one cable\ncommunications system franchise currently in effect. The Communications &amp;\nPublic Affairs Director oversees operation\nof the City\u2019s public access (YCTV) and government access (Y-PAC) cable\ntelevision services. The Communications &amp; Public Affairs Director is also\nresponsible for the City\u2019s community relations program which focuses on\nproactive media relations, communications training for City staff and elected\nofficials, and the creation of more and better ways for community members to take\npart in the development and implementation of public policy.&nbsp;The\nCommunications &amp; Public Affairs Director also serves as the City\u2019s primary\nspokesperson. The Communications &amp; Public Affairs Director also provides\nnews releases and social media content for the Yakima Police Department, and\nserves as that agency&#8217;s media contact. The Communications &amp; Public Affairs\nDirector serves as the staff liaison for the City of Yakima&#8217;s Community\nIntegration Committee, and works with the City Manager and City Council in\npromoting the Council&#8217;s legislative priorities in Olympia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Senior Community Relations Specialist&nbsp;\u2013 Bonnie Lozano<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"mailto:bonnie.lozano@yakimawa.gov\">Senior Community\nRelations Specialist Bonnie Lozano<\/a> is responsible for day-to-day\noperation of the City\u2019s public access (YCTV) and government access (Y-PAC)\ncable television services. This includes training and assisting community\nproducers who provide content for YCTV, as well as scheduling the use of YCTV\nequipment and facilities. The Senior Community Relations Specialist produces a\nwide variety of information including graphics for Y-PAC, YCTV and\ninformational monitors at Yakima City Hall and the Yakima Police Department as\nwell as videos, marketing material, etc. that is distributed to the community\nusing the City\u2019s various media platforms. The Senior Community Relations\nSpecialist works together with the Communications &amp; Public Affairs Director\nto develop and implement the City\u2019s community relations program and community\noutreach efforts.&nbsp; The Senior Community Relations Specialist also serves\nas the&nbsp;office\u2019s purchasing agent, initiating and tracking various\nequipment purchases. The Senior Community Relations Specialist also supports\nproduction of Y-PAC programming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Community&nbsp;Relations Specialist&nbsp;\u2013 Sean Davido<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"mailto:sean.davido@yakimawa.gov\">Community Relations\nSpecialist Sean Davido<\/a>&nbsp;is\nresponsible for creating a variety of information about City programs,\nservices, and initiatives and distributing that information\nusing the City\u2019s various media platforms.&nbsp; This Community Relations\nSpecialist serves as the City\u2019s primary videographer and photographer.&nbsp;The\nCommunity Relations Specialist contributes photos and videos and City Council\nmeeting information to the City\u2019s social media platforms.&nbsp; The Community\nRelations Specialist also researches and makes equipment purchase\nrecommendations for the Community Relations office as well as other City\ndepartments and divisions. This individual also produces, edits and hosts the <em>Yakima On Target<\/em> current affairs program\non Y-PAC, and produces public service announcements as well as video content\nfor various City departments. This position also works closely with the City of\nYakima&#8217;s Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee to promote safety outreach\nefforts. In addition, this position produces, edit and contribute segments to <em>CityCast<\/em>, the City of Yakima&#8217;s news\nvideo magazine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Community Relations Specialist \u2013 John Fannin<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"mailto:john.fannin@yakimawa.gov\">Community Relations\nSpecialist John Fannin <\/a>is responsible for researching, writing, and editing videos,\nspeeches, newsletters, news releases, promotional\nmaterials, e-mails, website posts, social media posts, etc., and designing or\nidentifying and incorporating original graphics, photographs, etc. for such\nmaterials.&nbsp;In addition, this position coordinates use of the City&#8217;s social\nmedia platforms and creates customized information for those platforms. This\nCommunity Relations Specialist records and post-produces programming for Yakima\nPublic Affairs Channel (Y-PAC).&nbsp; Additionally, the Community Relations\nAssistant regularly monitors and evaluates media coverage related to City\nactivities, policies, programs, etc., provides assistance to other City staff\nin the development and dissemination of information regarding City programs,\nservices, projects, and initiatives, and participates in the coordination of\nspecial events, meetings, community forums, conferences, training workshops,\nprojects, exhibits, and other activities related to the City\u2019s community\nrelations program. This position also writes, edits and publishes <em>Issues Brief<\/em>, the City of Yakima&#8217;s\nmonthly e-Newsletter. Responsibilities further include providing news releases,\nsocial media posts and website updates for the Yakima Fire Department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Municipal Producer \u2013 Mike Brown<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"mailto:michael.brown@yakimawa.gov\">Municipal Producer Mike\nBrown&nbsp;<\/a>is responsible for\nproduction of government access programming on\nY-PAC, the City\u2019s government access TV channel, which is carried on Charter\nCable Channel 194. The Municipal Producer researches potential events or issues\nfor which Y-PAC may provide coverage. The Municipal Producer also is\nresponsible for providing coverage of City events such as City Council\nmeetings, Hearing Examiner hearings, City Council Committee meetings, and other\npublic affairs events such as appearances by notable speakers, elections, etc.\nThe Municipal Producer also serves as an advisor to City divisions and\ndepartments regarding the purchase and use of video equipment.
