{"id":166,"date":"2014-04-21T11:09:24","date_gmt":"2014-04-21T18:09:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/services\/downtown\/?page_id=166"},"modified":"2016-08-05T10:58:30","modified_gmt":"2016-08-05T17:58:30","slug":"master-plan","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/services\/downtown\/master-plan\/","title":{"rendered":"Downtown Yakima Master Plan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a class=\"btn btn-success\" href=\"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/services\/downtown\/files\/Yakima_Project-Summary-Plan_110515_HIRES.pdf\">Downtown Master Plan<\/a><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-16\" src=\"\/services\/downtown\/files\/27-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"27\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/services\/downtown\/files\/27-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/services\/downtown\/files\/27-1024x682.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In early April 2013, the Yakima City Council approved contracts to begin working with two professional consultants to research and prepare a \u201cCity of Yakima Downtown Master Plan\u201d. \u00a0The Downtown Plan will include the following elements:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A Retail Plan,<\/li>\n<li>Urban Design recommendations,<\/li>\n<li>Public Space &amp; Amenities,<\/li>\n<li>Parking and Transportation,<\/li>\n<li>Development Standards<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The consultant team includes of Crandall Arambula of Portland, Oregon and Thomas Consulting of Vancouver BC.\u00a0 The project began with a series of meetings and a public workshop on May 9th and May 10<sup>th<\/sup>, 2013. The consultant team was seeking feedback on downtown issues \u00a0directly from the community, downtown business owners, property owners and city representatives.<\/p>\n<p>The highlight of the visit was a public session on the evening of Thursday May 9<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0at the Howard Johnson\u2019s Hotel on 9<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0Street and Yakima Avenue. The session will began at 6:30 p.m. and lasted approximately two hours. Following an initial presentation by our consulting team, there was the opportunity to submit ideas. Approximately 200 people attended the meeting.\u00a0 In addition to the evening public session, a series of seven one hour small group sessions were held with our consultant team to receive specialized information topics.<\/p>\n<p>The Council Economic Development Committee members (Coffey, Bristol and Lover) will serve as Council representatives on the steering committee. The second Public Workshop will be held in late June of 2013. The Downtown Plan is intended to be complete in late fall of 2013.
