{"id":1372,"date":"2025-03-20T07:27:12","date_gmt":"2025-03-20T14:27:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/services\/finance\/?page_id=1372"},"modified":"2026-05-18T11:37:01","modified_gmt":"2026-05-18T18:37:01","slug":"tourism-promotion-grants-lodging-tax-funded","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/services\/finance\/tourism-promotion-grants-lodging-tax-funded\/","title":{"rendered":"Tourism Promotion Grants (Lodging Tax funded)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The City of Yakima Tourism Grant Program will be accepting applications June 1 &#8211; July 1, 2026 for 2027 grants<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-file\"><a id=\"wp-block-file--media-47881f38-a441-4c05-b598-d00a7963819f\" href=\"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/services\/finance\/files\/Tourism-Promotion-Application-5.18.26-ADA.docx\">2027 Tourism-Promotion-Application-5.18.26-ADA<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/services\/finance\/files\/Tourism-Promotion-Application-5.18.26-ADA.docx\" class=\"wp-block-file__button wp-element-button\" download aria-describedby=\"wp-block-file--media-47881f38-a441-4c05-b598-d00a7963819f\">Download<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Introduction<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The City of Yakima receives annual funding from the Hotel\/Motel tax, which is collected from overnight lodging at hotels, motels, and short-term rentals, including Airbnb, bed and breakfasts (B&amp;Bs), RV parks, and other accommodations, for stays of fewer than 30 days within the city limits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The city has established a Lodging Tax Advisory Committee that reviews submitted applications and makes recommendations to the City Council for approval. The committee&#8217;s and the Council&#8217;s goal in selecting projects for assistance through the Tourism Grant Program is to enhance Yakima&#8217;s tourism market.  Funding is limited to projects that promote or develop tourism in Yakima.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/app.leg.wa.gov\/RCW\/default.aspx?cite=67.28\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Washington State RCW 67.28<\/a> outlines the permissible uses for these funds. They are specifically allocated for use by non-profit organizations or public agencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Project Eligibility<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Applications will only be accepted from entities that have previously received LTAC grant funds from the City of Yakima.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Preference will be given to proposals from qualified entities for:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Funding projects concerned with operating or improving city-owned facilities that generate overnight tourism;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Year-round tourism promotion and sales efforts through the destination marketing organization.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The applicant must demonstrate clearly and convincingly that the proposed project complies with the state statutes governing the use of funds. For reference, refer to &nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/app.leg.wa.gov\/RCW\/default.aspx?cite=67.28\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Washington State RCW 67.28<\/a>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Contract<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each project selected for funding will be required to enter into a contractual agreement with the City of Yakima. &nbsp;The agreement will cover such areas as scope of services, terms, compensation, reporting, specification of payment procedures, limits of City of Yakima liability and other usual customary requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Monitoring and reporting<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a contractual condition, each funded project will be monitored for progress and consistency with original goals. &nbsp;The sponsor will be required to submit a&nbsp;final report&nbsp;at the end of the project and may be required to submit periodic progress reports during the course of the project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;Selection Process<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>City staff will review the applications for completeness and eligibility.
