This will include updated location of licensed child care and day care centers. In addition, property with split zoning of more than one zoning district will be evaluated. Applicants are encouraged to submit a pre-application meeting request so staff can help identify to the best of their capabilities any conflicts that would prevent the land use from being permitted at the desired location prior to the applicant submitting a formal land use application and paying the required application fee. Information on how to submit a pre-application meeting request can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yakimawa.gov\/services\/planning\/pre-application\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Background Info<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2016, the City of Yakima adopted regulations to govern the placement of cannabis retail, production, processing, and research (see&nbsp;<span style=\"color: #000000\">Ordinances <a href=\"https:\/\/cdlfh042.citiesdigital.com\/weblink\/DocView.aspx?id=102367&amp;searchid=22b8525e-f1bb-408d-a7ee-f8db1c924961&amp;dbid=0\">2016-008<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/cdlfh042.citiesdigital.com\/weblink\/DocView.aspx?id=103644&amp;searchid=5bcf4eb4-905c-40fe-bf24-4eda6309f833&amp;dbid=0\">2016-017<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/cdlfh042.citiesdigital.com\/weblink\/DocView.aspx?id=103666&amp;searchid=883a9fbb-cf7c-478f-87d5-f79a712fa29e&amp;dbid=0\">2016-018<\/a>)<\/span>. These regulations were enacted as a result of the Washington State voter approval of Initiative I-502 in November 2012. The Yakima City Council created license restricted areas, consistent with state law (<a href=\"http:\/\/app.leg.wa.gov\/rcw\/default.aspx?cite=69.50.331\">RCW 69.50.331<\/a>) that <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">excludes<\/span> all land zoned for residential uses. In addition, certain sensitive land uses are buffered with a 1,000-foot separation requirement. This includes schools, playgrounds, home daycare and child care centers, libraries, arcades, public transit center, and other child based locations.
