Anyone may request a streetlight by submitting a petition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Prioritization<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The City can only spend between $4,000 to $8,000&nbsp;each year to install&nbsp;four to ten&nbsp;new streetlights. Requests must be&nbsp;prioritized to make the most of the available money.&nbsp;Requests are prioritized based on:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Crime statistics provided by the Yakima Police Department<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cost of installation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Length of time on the priority list<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How to Request a Streetlight<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>A petition is required\u00a0to place the streetlight request on the priority list so that anyone affected by the new light has a chance to give their opinion. The petition should <b>only <\/b>be signed by those\u00a0wanting the new streetlight.\u00a0\u00a0The petition must be signed by more than one-half of the households or businesses within two hundred (200) feet of where the light is wanted.
