The City Manager’s office has the primary responsibility for coordinating the activities of all City departments, translating Council policy into action programs, and providing timely public information.
City Manager Tony O’Rourke
Tony comes to the City of Yakima with more than 30 years of experience in public and private sector management including strategic leadership, business planning, financial management, economic
revitalization, organizational development, labor negotiations, capital improvements, marketing, special events, and public-private partnerships.
Upon his appointment in June of 2012, Tony said of the challenges ahead, “I’m looking forward to listening to the Yakima community and finding out what the needs and expectations are here. Yakima is a great place and already has a solid foundation.
“There are certainly challenges here, but I’m confident that we will be able to put into place concepts that I’ve found to be successful throughout my career in both the public sector and the private sector that will help take Yakima to the next level.”
