Due to budget constraints, responses to Yak Back request may be delayed.  Requests will be responded to as resources allow.  We appreciate your patience.

Terms of Service

To maintain a respectful and productive environment that aids the City in addressing specific requests in the Yak Back portal, all users must follow the following rules.

  1. Do not use Yak Back for emergencies. For immediate threats to life, safety, or crimes in progress call 911 immediately.
  2. Do not use Yak Back for urgent utilities issues (water main breaks, etc.), call our 24/7 hotline at 509-575-6154 for water pipes, or 509-575-6077 for emergency sewer back ups.
  3. Do not use Yak Back for complaints regarding City Employees. All complaints regarding City Employees should be directed to the City Manager’s Office at 509-575-6000.
  4. No personal attacks. Limit submissions to the infrastructure or location-specific issue being reported. Insults, harassment, and bullying directed at neighbors, city staff, or elected officials are not allowed.
  5. Topics must directly relate to infrastructure and location-specific services, listed below, within the City of Yakima.

    • Graffiti
    • Pothole or Street Surface
    • Parks/Tree Problem
    • Parking
    • Streetlight
    • Traffic Signal
    • Damaged Sign
    • Extra Patrol Suggestions
  6. No hate speech, profanity, or commercial spam.
  7. Requests that meet the Yak Back Rules for Use may be displayed on the public GIS map. Requests that do not meet these rules or are unrelated to infrastructure or other location-specific services will be excluded or removed from the map.
  8. The City reserves the right to review all requests before any information in those requests is added to public data pages.
  9. Requests for City Council action should be made to council2@yakimawa.gov.

Map disclaimer: The City recently updated its Yak Back map to focus on infrastructure and requests for location specific service. Items that were listed under “Other” and “Extra Patrols” are no longer featured on the map. Please refer to the Yak Back Rules for Use for additional information.
