Current Customers
If you are trying to pay your bill, click on the link to your Right under Utility Pages. You will need your account number to make a payment. Your address will not work. There is no charge to make payments online. You can pay with a debit card, credit card or your bank account. You can view your billing amount due and can set up a recurring payment; you specify a dollar amount to be paid and the frequency of the payments (monthly or every other month). You are not able to pay your stormwater bill online. Scheduling a payment online to be processed after the disconnect date will not ensure service does not get interrupted.

Deposits
New accounts that are in the property owners name do not usually require a deposit. Accounts in a tenants name, do require a security deposit. The amount of the deposit varies according to the utilities available at the address. The most common deposit, for water, wastewater, and refuse service is $215.28 We ask that 1/2 ($107.64) be paid immediately and the balance within two weeks. We are unable to include the deposit on the utility bills. Some addresses may require a deposit be paid in full prior to starting the service. Please contact utilities to confirm if you’re address requires the deposit be paid up front.
In certain cases, the utility deposit can be waived:
- Previous Service- If you recently had utility service with the City of Yakima for a period of 12 months, with no more than one suspension notice in that period, the deposit can be waived.
- Letter of Credit from a previous utility –
If you can provide an acceptable letter of credit from your most recent, previous utility company, the deposit can be waived. The City will accept letters of credit from the following types of utilities:
Water Districts
Sewer Districts
Refuse Companies

Natural Gas Companies
If the previous utility will fax a letter of credit containing payment history for a period of 12 months, with no more than one final notice in a twelve month period, the deposit can be waived. The fax number for the Utility Services Division is (509) 576-6649.
Deposits are generally returned after One year of good payment history. Unless otherwise requested, the deposit is applied to the utility account.
