City of Yakima Yard Waste collection will begin for the 2026 season on Monday, March 2nd. If you would like to find your pickup day, visit our handy Pickup Lookup page. Please call 575-6005 if you would like to start service; we will collect a 96 gallon green yard waste cart weekly from March through November.

Please place grass clippings, leaves and small branches in your green yard waste container. Small branches should be cut into 3 ft lengths or less and not exceed 3 inches in diameter. All yard waste must fit inside container with lids closed.

Our truck can pick up yard waste carts weighing up to 150 pounds. Carts filled to capacity with some materials can exceed the weight limit and will not be emptied. Contaminated carts will not be collected. (No plastic bags, animal waste, sod or ashes.)
