Adopt-A-Block program

The City of Yakima is partnering with Yakima Habitat for Humanity to offer an Adopt-A-Block program.

Residents and organizations can choose to adopt a city block as the City of Yakima identifies partner neighborhoods who wish to be adopted and receive volunteer assistance.

Information and sign-up details are available at Adopt-A-Block

“We are in the initial phase of getting the program up and going,” City Manager Vicki Baker said during a year-in-review presentation to the Yakima City Council on September 9th. “We are looking for community members who are interested in being ‘champions’ for blocks. Those champions would be the primary coordinators and leaders of getting things going for a specific block.”

Baker added, “It will take some time to get the program up and running. It will be a slow roll out. However, we do want to let people know the opportunity is there for them to be part of it.”
