Yard waste collection

The City’s Refuse Division provides weekly yard waste pick-up begins Friday, March 1st, and continues through November 30th.

Visit the Division’s yard waste collection website at https://www.yakimawa.gov/services/refuse/yard-waste-collection/ or call 509-575-6005 for more information or to make changes to your yard waste collection.

There is a charge for the service, which is limited to collecting grass clippings, leaves, and small branches. Branches should be cut into lengths of 3 feet or less and not exceed 3 inches in diameter. All yard waste must fit inside the cart with the lid closed.

Items that are unacceptable for yard waste pick-up include garbage, plastic bags, food scraps, animal waste, ashes and sod, building materials, and tree trunks or large branches. The items are not acceptable by the Yakima County landfill as yard waste. They are considered contaminants.

The City’s Solid Waste Pickup Day Lookup Tool offers an interactive map to find scheduled refuse and yard waste pickup days for your address.
