Avoid Water Pipes Bursting from Freezing

Take steps to prevent freezing pipes during an extreme cold snap expected in Yakima from Friday, Jan. 12th, through Thursday, Jan. 18th. According to the National Weather Service overnight temperatures are expected to drop to single digits, with high temps only in the teens and low 20s.

Bitterly cold weather can result in water pipes freezing and bursting. Avoid the mess and hassle that burst water pipes cause by following the above tips.

If your pipes freeze, you can contact the City at 509-575-6080 (business hours) or 509-575-6154 (after hours emergency) to have your water meter shut off.
