A project to resurface Summitview Avenue and replace curb ramps that began on October 10th continues through Thursday, October 27th.
The project is closing Summitview Avenue from 40th Avenue to 48th Avenue and 56th Avenue to 72nd Avenue during scheduled evening work hours of 7:00 pm to 6:00 am, Monday through Thursday. Flaggers and signs will be in place to assist drivers with detours.
Grinding activities began the evening of Monday, October 17th, for the project segment between 40th Avenue and 48th Avenue. Once the grinding is complete, temporary pavement markings will be placed while the contractor completes all preparation work for paving activities in the coming weeks. Daytime traffic control will include cones to delineate the center line, and paint for lane lines.
Drivers are asked to please use caution between 40th Avenue and 48th Avenue,” said Construction Supervisor Bruce Floyd. “The public’s continued patience during this roadway improvement project is greatly appreciated.”
Drivers are reminded the speed limit through all traffic-related work zones within the City of Yakima is 20 miles-per-hour.
During the project, traffic delays in the area are likely to occur. Drivers should use alternate routes until project completion.
Access to homes and businesses in the project area will be maintained as best as possible.
The schedule for this type of project is subject to change daily dependent on weather, equipment failure, and emergencies.
