Air Stagnation Advisory Issued for Yakima Area

The National Weather Service (“NWS”) has issued an air stagnation advisory for the Yakima area. It was announced at 2:50 pm today, Tuesday, and is in effect until Thursday at 12:00 pm.

The advisory is due to an upper level ridge that will limit air movement. Freezing fog will be possible at times.

NWS officials advise that pollution has the potential to increase to dangerous levels during periods of air stagnation.

The NWS advisory recommends that no outdoor burning occur and that residential wood burning devices be limited as much as possible.

The Yakima Regional Clean Air Agency declared a Stage 2 burn ban yesterday, Monday.
