Clean City Program Reports Progress in 2023

Responding to more than 2,200 graffiti incidents, contacting more than 3,700 individuals experiencing homelessness and clearing more than 183 tons of garbage were some of the City of Yakima Clean City Program activities in 2023. The Yakima City Council received updates on the program in the agenda packet for its meeting on Tuesday, February 20th.


City of Yakima Plans Closures for Presidents Day

City of Yakima facilities will be closed Monday, February 19th, for Presidents Day. That includes City Hall, Y-PAC, Public Works, and Parks and Recreation offices. Business offices for the Police and Fire Departments will be closed. Emergency services will remain available. Yakima Municipal Court will be closed. Yakima Transit will not provide bus service Monday


City Plans Traffic Signal Maintenance

The City’s Traffic Operations Division asks drivers to be aware of temporary traffic signal outages over the next two to three months. Outages will be about five minutes or less and are required for annual traffic signal maintenance. The City of Yakima has 115 intersections with traffic signals. Work will take place Monday through Thursday

Project to Close Section of N. 6th Avenue

North 6th Avenue will be closed to traffic tomorrow, Wednesday, Feb. 7th, between I Street and River Road. The closure will be in effect from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm Wednesday. A detour along North 16th Avenue will be in effect during the project work hours. The City of Yakima is assisting with the road
