City of Yakima 2021 Budget Earns Award

The City of Yakima’s 2021 budget has earned the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA).

The 2021 budget received the honor for comprehensive planning, financial integrity and effective communication. This marks the second consecutive year the City of Yakima has received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award.

“This award represents a significant achievement,” said Jennifer Ferrer-Santa Ines, Director of Finance and Budget. “It reflects the commitment of the City of Yakima and its staff in meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting.”

In order to receive the budget award, the City had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. The guidelines are designed to assess how well the budget serves as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide and a communications device.

The GFOA advances excellence in government finance by providing best practices, professional development, resources and practical research for more than 21,000 members and the communities they serve.
