City Plans Inspection of Sewer Pipelines

The City of Yakima Wastewater Division is managing a project to inspect the condition of 360 miles of public sewer pipelines. This project begins Monday, June 12th, and will be performed by RedZone Robotics, Inc. from Warrendale, PA.

The purpose of the pipeline inspection is to document the condition of the city’s sewer pipes to improve the efficiency of City maintenance activities and prioritize capital rehabilitation and replacement projects. Pipelines will be accessed through manholes that may be located in the backyard or side yard of residential properties, in city streets and rights-of-way.

During this project, the public may notice RedZone vehicles, crews and equipment in the area. Inspection work is scheduled for completion in 2025. RedZone will be working 7:00 am to 7:00 pm, seven days a week.

“This notification is to provide transparency and to ensure the public is aware of the pipeline inspection project so RedZone can complete its work in a timely fashion,” said Wastewater Operations Superintendent Marc Cawley.

For more about this project, or if anyone has a sewer manhole on their property that needs special attention or scheduling, please contact Wastewater Operations Superintendent Marc Cawley at marc.cawley@yakimawa.gov or (509) 575-6077.
