City Seeks Public’s Help with Safety for Water and Irrigation Utility Workers

In its commitment to providing safe and reliable drinking water, the City of Yakima’s Water/Irrigation Division seeks the community’s help to ensure safety for its workers as a precaution against COVID-19.

“We are asking you to please give our staff the space they need to conduct their work by keeping a distance of at least six feet,” said Assistant Public Works Director David Brown. “Our staff is vital to keeping the water system operational, providing safe reliable drinking water and water for irrigation. Thank you for your continued cooperation.”

The Water/Irrigation Division staff’s continuing essential tasks include:

  • Collecting routine monitoring samples
  • Staffing and monitoring the water treatment plant and process
  • Inspecting facilities
  • Routine maintenance
  • Emergency repairs
