City of Yakima offices and most non-emergency services will close Wednesday, June 19th, in observance of the Juneteenth holiday.
Closures include City Hall, the Public Works office, the Y-PAC office and the Harman Center.
Business offices for the police and fire departments will be closed. Emergency services will remain available. Yakima Municipal Court will be closed for the holiday.
Yakima Transit will not provide bus service on June 19th. Garbage pick-up will not be delayed, but the Refuse Division office will be closed June 19th.
Local events are planned to mark Juneteenth, including a Juneteenth celebration on Saturday, June 15th, from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Southeast Community Park, 1211 South 7th Street. It includes live music, food vendors, Mr. & Ms. Juneteenth, free throw or 3-point challenge and resource booths.

Saturday’s celebration, with participation by several local organizations including Yakima Parks and Recreation, will be preceded by a Freedom Ride Caravan at 11:00 am. It begins at Central Lutheran Church, 1604 West Yakima Avenue, and ends at Southeast Community Park.
