Due to funding constraints, the City of Yakima had to make some budget reductions for 2026 that will impact Yakima Parks and Recreation programs and facilities.
Thanks to a partnership with the Yakima Valley Community Foundation, the community has opportunities to directly support these programs/facilities. They include:
- Yakima Parks & Recreation Community Recreation Fund to support the Summer Sunset Concert Series, Viva La Musica concert series and outdoor movies at Chesterley Park.

“The Yakima community has shown tremendous generosity in supporting programs and facilities that are so beneficial,” said Wilkinson. “We are so appreciative of this spirit that makes Yakima a truly special place.”
Recent examples of this generosity were gifts the City Council accepted on Tuesday, Dec. 9th, that included $115,000 for an outdoor gym at Chesterley Park and other programs and services and $50,000 for Harman Center operations.
