The west half of I Street will be closed from 1St Street west to the alley for about three months starting Monday, Nov. 18th, for work on Phase 3 of the North 1st Street Revitalization Project.
Lane closures will be in effect 24/7 starting Monday. It’s estimated the west half of I Street will re-open the second week of February 2025.
In addition, the traffic signal at I Street and N. 1st Street will be flashing red during the lane closures.
Access will be maintained to properties in the project area.
After work is complete on the west half of I Street early next year, crews will move to the east side of I Street to complete the rebuild of the 1st Street/I Street intersection. City of Yakima social media and website platforms will provide related updates when eastbound lane closures are required on I Street.
Drivers are reminded the speed limit through all traffic-related work zones within the City of Yakima is 20 miles-per-hour.
As always, the schedule for this type of a project is subject to change daily dependent on weather, equipment failure, and emergencies.
