The Yakima City Council held its most recent regular agenda business meeting on Tuesday, May 7th. Action taken by the Council on May 7th included:
– Authorized the sale of $5 million in general obligation bonds for street improvements
– Requested additional review on establishing fees for special event permits to pay security and traffic control costs
– Accepted a seven step action plan for the revitalization of the North 1st Street area
– Contracted with the Humane Society of Central Washington for two additional animal control officers for the remainder of 2013
– Approved cruising on Yakima Avenue during the evenings of June 22nd , July 20th and September 14th
– Rejected a Yakima Hearing Examiner recommendation and approved closure of a portion of N. 2nd Avenue as requested by Hops Extract Corporation of America
