The second of four phases to construct a roundabout at the intersection of 72nd Avenue and Washington Avenue begins Monday, June 30th. This will require closing the west side of the intersection at South 72nd Avenue and West Washington Avenue.
Access will be maintained to properties in the project area.
Traffic delays in the project area are likely to occur. Drivers should use alternate routes if possible until the project is completed.
As always, the schedule for this type of project is subject to change daily dependent on weather, equipment failure, and emergencies.
The $1.47 million project is funded by the Washington State Transportation Improvement Board and money appropriated by the Washington State Legislature.
Culbert Construction, Inc. of Pasco is the project contractor.
Phase 1 of this project began June 16th, and the roundabout is expected to be complete in November. Updated traffic alerts will be posted on City of Yakima communications platforms, including the City website and social media accounts.
