Project to Impact Traffic at South Fair Avenue and Race Street

Temporary traffic restrictions will be in place tomorrow, Wednesday, May 22nd, and Thursday, May 23rd, at the intersection of South Fair Avenue and Race Street.

A City of Yakima traffic operations crew will install bases for a new set of yellow flashing lights for a school zone. The work will be done from approximately 6:30 am until 12:00 pm both Wednesday and Thursday.

During the project, traffic in the southbound lane will be diverted to the middle lane to accommodate equipment that will be occupying the southbound curb lane.

Drivers can expect delays in the project area. Drivers should use alternate routes if possible until the work is completed.

Drivers are reminded that the speed limit through all traffic-related work zones within the City of Yakima is 20 miles-per-hour.

Access to homes in the project area will be maintained as best as possible and emergency vehicles will be allowed through the project area.

As always, the schedule for this type of project is subject to change daily dependent on weather, equipment failure, and emergencies.
