Signal Upgrade to Impact Front Street and Walnut Street Intersection

Tomorrow, Tuesday, September 12th, the City of Yakima will wrap up a summer-long project to upgrade traffic signal heads at several intersections.

The traffic signal at Front Street and Walnut Street will be dark from 7:30 am to 1:00 pm tomorrow so crews can change out the signal heads at the intersection. During the project:

  • Traffic will be limited to one lane in each direction.
  • Stop signs will be posted in all four directions while the traffic signal is dark.

This will be the ninth intersection with updated traffic signals in the City this summer. The project is similar to one the City of Yakima completed last summer along several intersections of Yakima Avenue.

Drivers are reminded the speed limit through all traffic-related work zones within the City of Yakima is 20 miles-per-hour.

As always, the schedule for this type of project is subject to change daily dependent on weather, equipment failure, and emergencies.
