A section of Yakima Avenue will be closed Saturday evening, July 13th, for the Downtown Yakima Mile event.
Yakima Avenue will be closed between North 11th Avenue and South 3rd Street during the Yakima Mile. Road closures will take place between 5:00 pm and 9:00 pm on July 13th. Flaggers will be on site to assist drivers.
A total of 11 race heats are planned, and roads will open as needed in between heats.
Cruisin’ the Ave on Yakima Avenue planned for July 13th is rescheduled to Saturday, July 27, due to the Yakima Mile.
“Typically, cruise nights are permitted on Yakima Avenue on the second and third Saturday evenings from June through September,” said City of Yakima Communications and Public Affairs Director Randy Beehler. “This does not prohibit other, permitted special events from occurring on Yakima Avenue on those Saturdays. As a result, the July 13th cruise night event will instead be July 27th.”
Yakima Mile organizers anticipate about 1,200 participants and approximately 600 spectators on July 13th.
